The Meaning of Colors
Whenever I paint a sunset I'm inspired to play with color.

What is it about a sunset that people love?
The light and color of course. Seeing a sunset (or sunrise) is uplifting, mesmerizing and simply divine!
When we look at a sunset there are numerous other colors involved and depending on the
weather conditions, we will see some or all of the colors of the rainbow.
When you are attracted to a particular color,
what does that mean? Here is a generalization. The color's meaning will vary
as the shades, tints or tones vary. Also, meanings are different based on your
culture.
The color YELLOW makes most people happy. Depending on the tone, it is a cheerful
color however, yellow is a hard color to get right when painting a room. Too bright
and it can be overpowering and feel like nails on a blackboard.
RED is a fiery, exciting and passionate color that creates a feeling of warmth. This color
won't work well in a room you want to be more cool or calming such as a bedroom. You may
want to choose the right blue or green instead.
ORANGE is also hot and suggests a south of the border feeling or encourages creativity.
My favorite color for a car is always orange and makes total sense because I always wanted to head south.

BLUE is said to be the number 1 favorite color in the US. It is soothing, calming and happy, yet it
can be depressing if too dark. You have heard the saying, "feeling blue."
VIOLET (or PURPLE) is known to be regal. The color purple was expensive in the distant past and
only the wealthy could afford it. Most young girls love purple as do elderly women.
There is a connection to the divine when it comes to violet which may explain that.
Of course, all these colors have shades or tints that you may or may not care for and they would
then carry a different connotation.
