Oil Painting Supplies-

My favorite oils are Gamblin (or Richeson for beginners).

· _   Richeson Oils 7 tube double primary set with White -

         *Cadmium Yellow Light   ( Hansa Yellow)
         *Cadmium Yellow Medium (or Cadmium Yellow Dark )
         *Naphthol Red (Richeson) or Cadmium Red Medium (Gamblin)
         *Quinacrodone Magenta or Rose
         *Ultramarine Blue
         *Phthalo Blue
         *Titanium White

 ·  _      Grey Matters Paper Palette, knives and brush cleaner

· _      Grey Matters Set of flat brushes 

·      _  Ampersand Gessobord 9” x 12” or 11: x 14”

·      _  Gamblin Solvent Free Gel  

·       _ Small Metal Solvent Container that screws shut for Gamsol.

—Gamsol (no turpentine allowed in class) Or I prefer: Eco Solve a new non-toxic cleaner from Natural Earthpaints.

—White charcoal pencil, regular 2b or 6B pencil, eraser

IF YOU ARE WORKING IN YOUR HOME WITHOUT ANY VENTILATION, make sure you use the Eco Solve instead of other paint thinners.

Pastel Supplies

·     _   For sketching dark blue or dark gray hard pastel sticks:

     _.  Small amount of hard pastels like Richeson or Nupastel sticks for drawing. (A dark blue gray (or dark purple gray) and a               sky blue hard pastel).

·     _   80 piece set of Soft Hand-rolled pastels- Color and Energy or your own set.  It is important to have lights, mediums and darks in all the colors of the color spectrum for this workshop. If attending the Sarasota workshop, ask Linda to pick up the set for you and bring to the workshop. Call the store to order or click here

  •   Ampersand pastel panels . These panels are sanded and come in toned or white.
  •   Several Clips 
  •   Gloves (or Skin Saver Cream)  
  •   (optional) Glassine paper cut to place over each pastel paper.  (or clear bags to place finished pastel inside.)     
  •   Drop cloth or towel to prevent pastel from breaking if dropped
  •   White charcoal pencil, regular 2b or 6B pencil or charcoal pencil, eraser
  •   Sketchbook- toned paper preferred in a mid tone
  •   Paper towels

 

Acrylic Supplies

If you already use acrylic, then feel free to use them. If you are buying acrylic paint, I now love the new non-toxic

and non-plastic Natural Earth Paints OR Golden Open paints which stay wet longer like oil does.

act more like an oil.) Water/soap cleanup..

Easel when working plein air:

I like the plein air UGO easel and tripod when working with acrylic or oil.

If you need a great easel for larger plein air sizes, look at the Leder Easel. I use it when traveling, at my home or in the studio when I need an extra.  I use this easel when working in pastel
